Path of Exile Item Upgrading Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes. They can also boost the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln. Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded. Upgrade components Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is in use. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped. Leveling The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they're “leveled out.” The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces. The more you improve a product, the better your chance of obtaining an exclusive bonus. The game also comes with various sets that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending lots of money. Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.
