Do Not Buy Into These “Trends” About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes. They can also boost the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln. Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded. Upgrade components Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or received from chests and missions. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade. In order to upgrade an item of armor, the player has to choose it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats and the necessary component or materials. There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor. In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped. Leveling The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they're “leveled out.” The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces. This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds. Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes. Each upgrade step will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment. If an item is not able to get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate. To determine the height of a building engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement to a known reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This is referred to as a “level-loop.” It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety. Rerolling Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game and can improve the damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be accomplished through the item menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in very rare instances. The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which can be used to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the level of filling. Prior to this, some upgrade item s were given priority affixes, which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance. This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment. Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the better your chance of obtaining an exclusive bonus. The game also comes with various sets that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending lots of money. Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game much more quickly. Sets Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They could be of various sizes, contain none of the elements, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or organize information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape. There are a variety of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while some aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have many armor pieces or weapons. Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased). Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level with their levels. For example the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage. To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button in the character screen. This will display the item's features, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard. Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with spell/weapon damage glyphs, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
